Meet Alvin

I was born in Hammond, Louisiana on December 19, 1956 to the late Eugene Nunnery, Sr. and Shirley Alexander Nunnery. I am the sixth of nine children. I have five brothers and three sisters. I graduated from Hammond High School in 1975. While in high school, I served as editor in chief of the school newspaper and I was a member of the student counsel.

I received my J.D. in the spring of 1982. I was offered a position as Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, under then District Attorney, Ed Rendell, who was alum of Villanova Law School and is now the current Governor of Pennsylvania. I opted instead to come to Texas as it was considered the most economically growing area in the nation.

I took the Bar in July of 1982. I was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November of 1982. During that period between taking the bar and being admitted to the bar, I accepted assignments as a substitute teacher in Fort Worth, Texas.

After admission to the Bar, I went to work for the Attorney General for the State of Texas, Jim Mattox, in Austin, Texas. I was assigned to the Enforcement Division, where I represented the State of Texas, in post conviction Habeas Corpus Proceedings in Federal Court.

I was then hired by Tarrant County District Attorney, Tim Curry as an Assistant District Attorney, where I served for approximately, 1 1/2 years.

In May of 1985 I married my wife, Angela Mosley-Nunnery, M.D. We moved to Houston and I immediately began working as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County under Mr. Johnny B. Holmes. I prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony cases.

I was assigned to courts presided over by Judge Jon Hughes, Judge Jay Burnett and Judge Charley Hearn’s, Judge.

In 1990, I left the District Attorney’s office and began my practice as a Criminal Defense Attorney.

Since being in private practice, I have tried every criminal case imaginable, including: 13 Death Penalty Cases. I am entering my twenty-fifth year of marriage. I am the proud father of three children, two daughters and one son.

I am a former member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and New Mount Calvary Baptist Church. I am a current member of Fallbrook Church, where I teach a Men’s Bible Study. I have been a resident of Harris County since 1985, and I have lived in Kingwood since 1990.
